A Simple Way to Support Your Lymphatic System at Home

Your lymphatic system plays a quiet but powerful role in your health. It helps move cellular waste out of the body while also delivering hydration and nutrients where they’re needed most.

Unlike your heart, the lymphatic system doesn’t have its own pump — it relies on movement. That’s why supporting healthy flow can make such a difference, especially if you’re feeling puffy, sluggish, or congested.

Some simple ways to encourage lymphatic movement include:
• Regular movement and exercise
• Whole-body vibration (like a vibration plate)
• Gentle lymphatic drainage massage (at home or with a professional)

Below is a simple DIY technique you can try at home.

Before You Start

  • Drink plenty of water
  • Use very gentle pressure — this is light touch, not deep tissue
  • If you’re feeling especially congested, you can repeat 2–3 times per day

Step 1: “Prime” the System

We want to gently open the main drainage areas first.

Neck
Starting at the back of your neck, gently glide your hands down the sides of your neck toward the soft area just below your collarbones. Lightly rub or tap that area 5–10 times.

Chest & Shoulders
Gently sweep from the front of your shoulders inward toward the center of your chest several times.

Arms / Armpits
With light pressure, rub from the upper arm down toward the armpit and slightly below it along the side of your chest.

Upper Legs
Glide your hands from behind the knees up along the inner thighs toward the groin and lower abdomen.

Step 2: Face & Head

Imagine a line down the center of your face. Starting at the forehead, gently glide outward toward the ears. Continue working down the face toward the chin.

Then place two fingers just below your earlobes and gently glide down the sides of your neck to below your collarbones. Light tapping here can also be helpful.

You can also gently rub down the back of your neck and around to the front. If you have tension at the base of your neck, apply light but intentional pressure and guide the movement forward.

Step 3: Arms

Rub your palms together to warm them. Gently glide up the palm side of your fingers and down the back of your fingers (lymph vessels are concentrated along the back of the hands).

From the back of your hand, follow a natural curve toward the inside of your elbow, then up the underside of your arm and toward the side of your chest.

Step 4: Abdomen & Back

With gentle pressure, move from the middle of your back around toward the front of your abdomen as comfortably as you can.

The upper abdomen drains upward toward the chest. The lower abdomen drains downward toward the sacral region (base of the spine).

Keep movements slow and light.

Step 5: Legs

With legs comfortably apart, gently glide from the inner upper thigh toward the groin and lower abdomen. Repeat several times.

Then move from the ankles and tops of the feet upward toward the thighs, working around each leg and giving a little extra attention to the knees.

A Gentle Reminder

This isn’t meant to be aggressive or intense. Lymphatic massage is about light, rhythmic movement — encouraging flow, not forcing it.

Even a few minutes a day can support your body’s natural detox pathways.
